Best School Districts in Hendricks County

Brownsburg, Avon and Plainfield are the most requested Hendricks County districts, while Danville, North West Hendricks and Mill Creek attract families who prefer smaller schools. District boundaries — not town lines — determine which schools a specific address attends, so always verify by address.

The six districts

Hendricks County is served by six public school corporations.

  • Brownsburg Community School Corporation — large, high-performing, strong athletics
  • Avon Community School Corporation — largest, exceptional program breadth
  • Plainfield Community School Corporation — strong arts and career-technical programs
  • Danville Community School Corporation — smaller classes, tight community
  • North West Hendricks Schools (Tri-West) — small, rural, high participation rates
  • Mill Creek Community School Corporation (Cascade) — smallest, most rural

How schools affect home values here

District reputation is measurably priced into Hendricks County homes. The clearest example: two similar houses a mile apart can differ by tens of thousands of dollars because one sits inside a more sought-after elementary boundary.

This is also why I verify attendance areas by exact address before you write an offer. Boundaries have shifted with growth, especially in Brownsburg and Whitestown.
